After yesterday’s result, Santos FC is on an eight game undefeated run for the Brazilian Championship. The 2-2 draw against Flamengo last night, in a match played in Vila Belmiro, was Neymar’s return game after 36 days out with an injury. The Menino da Vila scored the two goals for the Club. When it comes to the second half of the competition, Santos FC is leading with Flamengo and Cruzeiro, having won 21 points from a possible 30, demonstrating improvement and consistency in its performances.
With a crowded Vila Belmiro, the greatest public in more than fifteen years of the stadium, Santos FC’s performance showed the team’s ability to fight back after falling 2-0 behind against Flamengo and coming back to earn a draw. The Club continues to pursue its objectives in the Brazilian Championship, including the possibility of securing qualification for the 2027 Copa Libertadores.
The campaign has been highlighted by victories over Vasco, Corinthians, Internacional, Cruzeiro, Remo and São Paulo. With its improved performance, Santos FC has gained momentum and strengthened its ambitions for the final stretch of the season. The team’s strong form has also lead to the call-up of Gabriel Bontempo, one of Santos FC’s promising young talents, to the Brazilian national team for friendly matches under head coach Carlo Ancelotti.
